Often neglected, air-return maintenance is just as important to the overall maintenance of the HVAC unit as any other aspect.
Check your business for:
- Egg-crate returns (pictured on the left): These are very fragile, very difficult to clean, and clog easily.
- Supply and Return Grille proximity: This is one of the lead reasons why a specific room is too cold/too hot. It is also a signal for improper duct work.
- For optimal comfort, supply registers need to be installed on outer walls and under windows, whereas return registers are ideally located on inside walls.
- Object proximity to returns/supplies: Ensure no objects are blocking the return or supply grilles. This will result in improper air flow and can cause your unit to work overtime, increasing your power bill.
